Gerard Barron
Interimar Head of Clinical Operations, MAC United Kingdom
Gerard Barron is a Clinical Operations expert having amassed over 25 years’ experience working for pharma/biotech (GW Pharma, Astex and MedImmune), CROs (Covance, MAC PLC) and specialist service providers providing patient facing solutions for clinical trials (Illingworth Research Group).
Gerard is currently a free lance consultant in his own company, The Matlock Clinical Research Partnership, set up at the beginning of 2024 with his wife Rachel Barron, a qualified vet, and medical writer. The company provides services to emerging biotechs, large pharma, CROs and other entities with an interest in clinical trials.
Gerard is a proven leader having led a large operational team of over 100 people while at Illingworth. He has significant experience of running clinical trials in inflammation and autoimmunity indications and is extremely proud to have brought a drug through clinical trials to patients in the rare disease space. He also has significant experience of patient facing solutions, most notably research nursing and patient concierge services having been responsible for the operational delivery of these services at Illingworth.
Outside of work, Gerard and his wife and two children live in the Peak District, Derbyshire in the UK where they enjoyed a range of outdoor activities including walking, running, mountain biking and sailing. A good work life balance is essential and enjoyment of work, respect and kindness critical.
