Tenor Sorin Lupu completed his studies at the "Gheorghe Dima" Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, graduating in 2004. During his academic journey, he benefited from the tutelage of renowned masters such as Ion Buzea, Mariana Nicolesco, and Ionel Pantea.
His association with the Romanian National Opera in Cluj began during his student years, and by 2004, he had ascended to the role of a soloist, swiftly establishing himself as one of the most sought-after vocalists in Romania. He further collaborated with esteemed institutions such as the National Opera in Bucharest, the Hungarian Opera in Cluj-Napoca, the Opera in Brasov, the Romanian National Opera in Timisoara, and the Operetta Theatre in Gala?i.
His talent has also garnered invitations from the Maria Biesu Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chisinau, Moldova, where he has graced the stage with notable performances including the characters of Rodolfo in Puccini's La Boheme, the Duke of Mantua in Verdi's Rigoletto, Radames in Verdi's Aida, Ismael in Verdi's Nabucco, and Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca.
His extensive repertoire encompasses a wide range of roles, such as Alfredo Germond in Verdi's Traviata, the Duke of Mantua in Verdi's Rigoletto, Edgardo di Ravenswood in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Faust in Gounod's Faust, Don Jose in Bizet's Carmen, and Don Carlo in Verdi's Don Carlo. He has also received acclaim for his performances in Bellini's Norma, Offenbach's Tales of Hoffman, and others.
Sorin Lupu has been part of various international tours, performing with the Bra?ov Opera in Germany and Austria for roles including Hoffman in Tales of Hoffman and Pollione in Norma, as well as portraying the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto across Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, France, and Holland. He has also taken part in tours organised in the United Kingdom by Opera Ballet International Ellen Kent, featuring productions such as Boheme, Tosca, Carmen, Aida, Madama Butterfly, and Nabucco.
In addition to his achievements in classical genres, Sorin Lupu has successfully delved into the realm of romance, delivering captivating recitals at various festivals and concerts in both Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Recently, he has also ventured into the world of rock, responding to an invitation from the accomplished rock composer and guitarist, Bela Andra?i, with whom he recorded a highly successful duet.
